A pocket-sized touch of France!

With its modern chic décor and delectable cuisine paired with an extensive wine collection, nestled away in the heart of manor park, Cellar 8 is the perfect location to celebrate life. It is a restaurant which is greatly influencing the dining experience in Jamaica with its bistro and wine bar amalgamated setting.

Cellar 8 has managed to not only offer an alternative to the bar scene by sensitizing Jamaicans to the concept of wine tasting; but in true bistro style has provided reasonably priced distinctive cuisine in a fine dining setting. In the words of the executive chef Ramesh Maragh, they aim to create an experience that will allow guests to come in and spend time, and take a break from their fast-paced worlds to simply celebrate life. In exchange, his team goes the extra mile for the guests and ensures that food is cooked in small batches to maintain a consistency in flavours.

Chef Maragh, after visiting France, remains deeply inspired by the French culinary experience and the way in which they celebrate food. He conceptualizes brand new menus from appetizers to desserts seasonally, incorporating heavily all the produce available within that season for his suggested dishes. As a result, their new French and Asian fusion inspired summer menu was launched on Friday July 14, 2017. Although their menu is completely new, signature dishes such as oxtail tacos and their crab dish remain.

A surprisingly flavourful option from their new hors d’oeuvres would be the Olive and Date Tapenade with crostini. A glass of Matua Sauvignon Blanc 2016 white wine with its combination of sauvignon blanc, muscat blanc, chardonnay and viognier grapes compliment the puree with its light and crisp palate. If the tapenade was a bit spicier however, it would go extremely well with a glass of Mud House Pinot Noir 2015.

The Mud House Pinot Noir 2015 is a great pairing for the succulent Steak Diane in cognac cream sauce served with asparagus, as the tannins in the wine are a great compliment to the red meat. If you are vegetarian or a seafood lover, the Asian inspired fire roasted shrimp on citrus infused rice noodles is the ideal entrée for you, paired with a glass of Dr. Loosen Riesling 2015 German white wine.

Cellar 8 boasts dishes that are house made which include their Middle Eastern pizza and gelato to name a few. The Middle Eastern pizza is something to talk about from their line of pizzas, with its handmade crust topped with roasted mushrooms, spinach, sundried tomatoes, brie and dates. Dessert however, can be subtly sweet if one selects their vanilla or passion fruit house made gelato served with a shortbread stick.

The menu with its selection of appetizers, entrees, sides, pizzas, pastas, burgers and salads are available to suit the palette of any customer. Notably, their staff is equipped to advise you on the best pairing of wine to go with your meal whether it’s a glass or a bottle, with an additional variety of cocktails offered by the bar. The price range of their meals, wines and cocktails are manageable for a variety of customers with different tastes, preferences and price points.
